Köcher, Köder, Fluss
The new special exhibition at BIOTOPIA Lab uses various construction practices to explore the relationships between tiny aquatic organisms, fishermen, and a river. The focus is on the elaborate protective cases that caddisfly larvae build underwater from small stones, plant parts, snail shells, and their own silk. Fly fishermen observe these aquatic insects closely and imitate them with artificial lures. The Isar River in Munich is home to caddisflies, a popular fishing spot for fly fishermen, and an ecosystem shaped by humans and nature. It was renaturalized about two decades ago. Since then, numerous measures have been taken to improve living conditions on and in the water. (Cover photo: Franz Schiermeier)
