Neuhausen-Nymphenburg district week: We are part of it!

The District Weeks are festivals organized by the City of Munich’s Department of Culture that take place every year in different districts of the city – and have been doing so for more than 45 years. This year, the festival will take place in Neuhausen-Nymphenburg from July 3 to 9 under the motto “Wir machen was” (We’re doing something). The residents, clubs, initiatives and cultural workers in the district are involved. They are aimed at young and old, promote dialog with one another and encourage voluntary work.

For the festivals, public spaces are spruced up, tents are erected, stalls and stands are set up and a varied program is offered. Galleries and studios open their doors to art lovers, sports clubs put on performances, and there is music and traditional costumes for those in love with their homeland. The evening program in the large marquee offers theater, music and well-known stars from the cabaret scene. There is a circus and Punch and Judy show for the little ones, dancing and singing for senior citizens and a colorful hands-on program for schoolchildren.

The “Nature Tent” of the Bavarian State Natural History Collections

Our researchers will bring exciting items from our collections to the Hirschgarten: minerals, rocks, animals, plants, fossils, and much more. We will answer questions that interest young and old alike: about nature, about our environment, how everything changes, and how everything is connected.

In our children’s program, we will do crafts, experiment, puzzle, and marvel at the many wonders of nature. For example, we will look at tiny creatures and minerals under a microscope, exciting water experiments will help us better understand plants such as the lotus flower, we will show our 3D printer in action, our researchers will cast dinosaur claws in plaster, and together we will spin the wheel of fortune. Maybe our volcano will erupt or our velociraptor will stop by.
